In 1967, to tie-in with what it hoped would be a successful release
of the first Peter Cushing Dalek film, American publishing
company Avon Books published an edition of David Whitaker's
novelization of the first Dalek serial, the text of the first page of which may be seen above.
In April of 1998, I
came across a copy of this book selling at a used
book-store for $3. Needless to say, I grabbed it in a
flash, considering that I had seen it selling for as high
as $50 at conventions. Here now you may view the front as
