Why Exarius?
When I first created this
page, I wanted the title to be a bit more obscure than
most, so I thought I'd choose the name of a planet from a
story that everyone seems to either despise or ignore,
namely Colony in Space. One problem with this is
that everyone seems to have a different spelling for the
planet on which this story takes place. Jean-Marc Lofficier
spells it Exarius in The Universal Databank, as does
David McIntee in The Face of the Enemy, yet in
The Television Companion, David J. Howe and Stephen
James Walker spell it Uxarieus, as this is how it is
spelled in Malcolm Hulke's scripts, and claiming that my
spelling is the result of fan myth. Whatever the reason, I
prefer the shorter spelling, as it doesn't have all those
nasty diphthong vowel combinations!
